Patio Bench - Patio Benches
When you are shopping around for a good patio bench there are many factors involved. One for example, when looking for a good patio bench you must make sure that the wood bench is made of its high density hardwood with a solid sealer and which no oiling is needed to maintain the color. Since it is made out of wood you must also make sure that the patio bench also has a slightly curved seat so that you have good lower back comfort. Also make sure that the hardwood bench is also capable of staying outdoors in any weather and is waterproof. The next step is using a good patio bench to find out what types of wood is the most solid and most dependable in great weather and bad weather.
The general consensus of the top type of wood that most people use for patio benches is cedar wood. Throughout the ages, cedar wood has remained the top choice in many countries. I mean if the Temple of Solomon used cedar wood from the Cedars of Lebanon to build its temple from then I think I would want that choice as the one for my patio bench. There are many types of cedar woods available. Now if you are on the East Coast I believe that Northern White Cedar is a very popular Cedar in that region of the United States and for good reason. Northern White Cedar is very dense and resistant to many types of harmful things that would usually hurt other types of wood such as insects, rain and general cold weather. Northern White Cedar, though it's very tough and resistant to the elements it still retains the beautiful suppleness that makes it the choice of many on the East Coast.
The other type of cedar wood that is most used in states like California and other Western states is the Western red Cedar. The Western red cedar is a little more of a softwood then the northern White Cedar. It is almost as strong but not quite as strong but still strong enough to resist the elements but as we know the weather on the western part of America is a little more tame than it is on the eastern coast, henceforth the need for more solid cedar wood on the eastern coast. Western red Cedar is also known for its beautiful natural colors that usually attract the eye of many people. No matter what type of cedar wood you choose for your patio bench rest assured that it will stay solid and nearly impervious to the elements.
Now if you decide not to go with CedarWood the other choice of wood is the almost as popular pinewood. Pine is starting to make a comeback and is becoming very popular for building patio benches and other types of furniture for the outdoors. The two types of pines that are usually used for making benches are the Brazilian pine and the yellow Pine. Believe it or not Brazilian pine is well known for holding screws in place because of the structure of the wood and it has a very beautiful light brown color that looks almost like honey. Brazilian pine however is not as resistant to the elements as CedarWood is and therefore probably has to be taken indoors during extreme rain and be watched over very carefully against insects. Yellow pine however is a much tougher and dense kind of wood and is therefore much better at resisting the elements than Brazilian pine. Whatever choice you make in the type of wood you choose for your outdoor patio bench make sure you analyze the price differences as well as how much risk you want to take as far as how resistant to the elements your choice of wood is.
